Heavy Eyebrows a New Trend?

I must admit, maybe it’s my nineties influence creeping up on me, but I am definitely not a fan of a fashion trend I’m seeing on the catwalks or on the red carpet lately. That trend is for heavy, thick and bushy eyebrows that look heavily drawn in.  Sort of like Brooke Shields circa seventies eyebrows.  Granted, she was so gorgeous and fresh she could pull it off.

But these are very contrive looking eyebrows that I’m seeing.  I am a firm believer that you should use a very light hand when applying brow liner. If you go too heavy, you end up looking like a caricature of yourself and almost inhuman. Yeah, eyebrows are that important. They totally frame your face and they can make or break how your entire face looks.

They create symmetry and balance, which are two of the major players in the typical “beauty” mathematical formula that we all do in our head when we see a beautiful face and register it as beauty.

To avoid having too heavy a hand in drawing on my bald spots in my eyebrows, I use a very thin pencil. I like the wind up pencils by MAC because they instantly have a thin line every time you wind them up, you don’t have to worry about constantly sharpening them to just the right thin point to get the right effect.

You also should never just “draw” them on in a straight line. Rather, drawn them in short tiny strokes in the direction of your other eyebrow hairs to create the look of real eyebrow hairs instead of one long, onconvincing and unnatural looking line that makes you look like a clown rather than a natural beauty.

Also make sure that you buy the right brow liner color. Too often people wear a color that is too dark for them and it stands out and doesn’t look natural. If nothing else, go too light rather than too dark.  Doing this combined with feathering the tiny strokes on like tiny hairs will give you great looking eyebrows that will frame your face beautifully.

Bold, heavy brows be gone!  I like full, medium sized brows still and nothing will change my mind on that front for now.

Get Eyebrows Like Angelina Jolie, Megan Fox

Out of all the hot makeup looks, I’d have to say that two of the women in Hollywood who get that whole “sex kitten” look just right (and hence the reason for their popularity with the opposite sex) are Angelina Jolie and Megan Fox.

Now granted, the two of them have striking facial structure similarities, but there is something else they both have that really frames their face well and sets them apart their eyes and their eybrows. They both have perfectly arched, delicately lined eyebrows that complement their features very well and take them to the next level of attractiveness.

The good news is that you can duplicate this look even if you have skimpy eyebrows or very light colored eyebrows, because there are some great eyebrow liners out there that help you achieve the perfect arch no matter what God has given you to work with.

Also, there are some excellent eyebrow and eyelash enhancers that act as a combo treatment for both of these important facial features to help these tiny hairs grow in faster, longer and darker when you need faster growth and more of it to create that luscious “filled in” look and to have as much of it be from your own natural hair fibers as possible to create a realistic look.

My favorite eyebrow liner that really creates a thin line that looks natural and blends well is the MAC brow liner. It’s easy to use because it’s a push up pencil rather than one that needs to be sharpened. There is no guess work, because the pencil is always the perfect size to creat the realistic look of tiny hairs that look just like your own.

There are also three colors that match well with any brow color. There’s even one that’s very light for blondes and redheads that is awesome. What you want to do with this liner is create tiny, hair like lines that go in the direction of your other eyebrow hairs.

This creates a naturally fuller look, and you can follow the existing arch your brows, which should ideally follow the arch or your brow bone. These tiny little hairs look just like your own eyebrows! An voila, you have sexy, arched and perfectly full eyebrows that aren’t too thick or too thin – just like Angelina and Megan!
